True West, a finalist for the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, tells the story of two estranged brothers. Austin, the achiever, is working on a script he has sold to producer Saul Kimmer when Lee, a demented petty thief, drops in. He pitches his own idea for a movie to Kimmer, who then wants Austin to junk his bleak, modern love story and write Lee’s trashy Western tale. The brothers begin to work together and as tensions rise, the differing personalities of Austin and Lee begin to shift, resulting in an explosive confrontation in the thrilling final scenes of the play. The show contains adult situations and language.
True West is directed by Joanna Lawler. The small cast includes Rodger Hartley as Austin, Jason Knox as Saul Kimmer, Dennyce Korb as Mom and Jeffrey Alan Smith as Lee.
