This group was formed when the first “production” was performed in the spring of 2005 by a company of clients at the Black Hills Workshop. They presented a short, seasonal play for their friends, family and the general community and the group named themselves the Suzie Cappa Players, after the name of the Arts Center at the Black Hills Workshop. Ten participants were chosen by Brad Winter, the Center Coordinator. Several teenage facilitators were also used to cue lines and the play format included a narrator, drawn from the ranks of volunteer actors from the Community Theatre. During the 2005 – 2006 Season, Kristi Thielen, BHCT Education and Outreach Director, directed a Halloween play and taught a series of acting classes. Brad A. Winter and the clients have expressed their desire to continue to develop the “company” and do more theatre programs.
