New Internship Opportunities

Black Hills Community Theatre’s Technical Theatre Internship (TTI) has openings available for new interns! The TTI program is a new initiative provided by BHCT to give a quality education on the world of entertainment technology in the hopes of giving its interns the tools they need to create quality performances. Covering the major fields of technical theatre interns will learn:

  1. Leadership and creative design skills.
  2. Technical specialization including lighting, sound, and special effects.
  3. Production skills for live performance, from selection to closing night and everything in between!
  4. Portfolio building and theatre interview skills.
  5. And much more!

The TTI program operates on an hour per month basis meaning flexible scheduling and also offers opportunity to work directly on BHCT mainstage shows, meaning you get hands-on experience to add to your portfolio.  With that in mind, we only have 2 spots available at this time and are looking for the following candidates.

Must be between 13 and 20 years of age.

Be in good academic standing with your school or provide proof of GED.

Hard working and willing to put in a minimum of 12 hours monthly for lessons.

Willing to work on a minimum of 2 BHCT shows per season.

Previous experience is not required.

      Speak to your schools theatre instructor to receive the application and submit it to Mr. John Easton at electrics@bhct.org or drop them off at the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City box office. Deadline for applications will be April 1st and interviews will be conducted April 7th and 8th. We look forward to meeting you!

Internship Application

Since its inception in 1999, the Cherry Street Players has introduced over 350 young people ages 8-14 to the artistic and technical fundamentals of theater. Students  participate in classroom exercises and instruction that culminate in the rehearsal and performance of a fully staged production each semester. All participants get a chance to showcase what they’ve learned and experience the excitement of performing live for the community.

The Well Done Players provides theatre arts training and performance opportunities to further ‘up-the-ladder’ actors, singers, dancers, playwrights and technical enthusiasts within the Black Hills region, for the benefit of personal growth and strong community relations.
