THE BULLY PLAYS
By Various Artists
CHERRY STREET PLAYERS Main Stage Production. December 13-15, 2013. 4 Performances.
Our Children’s Troupe (20 kids, ages 9-17) have been working very hard and a special production for us. THE BULLY PLAYS are a collection of short scenes and monologues all dealing with the topic of bullying from a child’s perspective. It’s inspiring, funny, dramatic, and thought-provoking. It is appropriate for all ages. Bring your families to see this amazing piece of theatre!!
We are so very proud of our children’s outreach program, The Cherry Street Players. In fact, it was this program that brought me to BHCT in 2001. Over the many years this troupe has produced some amazing theatre for children and adults alike. This production will add to an already long line of impressive productions. Yet, this one is different. While most shows are suitable for ALL ages, down to the youngest child, THE BULLY PLAYS focuses more on situations that young teens deal with. The topic of bullying is not uncommon for these students, and their stories are, unfortunately, all too familiar with our youth. This is why we felt it was important to approach this piece. The short stories that you will see all reflect a type of “bullying”, but they go beyond. Each scene also concludes with victory, understanding and coping. It makes your heart smile. The CSP students have learned a lot about themselves, their closest friends, and fellow students, while feeling safe in the theatre spectrum. Once again, everyone at BHCT is very proud of them, and this production, and we hope you will be too. Please know that really young children may not find any interest in this production, and for the most part, it may bore them a bit. It’s not typical Children’s Theatre. But never fear, coming soon in early Spring we will be producing THE LITTLE MERMAID for all to enjoy. Come join us December 13-15 and support these talented and hard-working young stars of the stage.
